Paul Thorn has been pleasing crowds for years with his muscular brand of roots music - bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern, yet also speaking universal truths. The Tupelo, Mississippi native worked in a furniture factory, jumped out of airplanes, and was a professional boxer before sharing his experiences with the world as a singer-songwriter. With his father being a Church of God Pentecostal Minister and his uncle (his father's brother) having spent time as a pimp, Thorn has plenty of material to mine from - and expertly turns these "saint and sinner" scenarios into songwriter gold.

Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia’s most respected musicians. With a professional career spanning five decades, Tommy has garnered hundreds of thousands of loyal fans worldwide. His unusual talent and life are common lore in Australia:  born into a musical family, Tommy got his first guitar at age 4 and was taught by his mother. He quickly learned by ear, with no formal instruction, and has never read music. By age 6 he was working as a professional musician in the family band.  By the age of 10, young Tommy had already played his way across Australia.

Corb Lund is an alt-country singer-songwriter from Alberta, Canada. Joe Pug - A singer/songwriter whose songs offer an updated version of the country-folk archetypes that Bob Dylan and John Prine made famous, Joe Pug was born and raised in Maryland, and began playing guitar when he was in grade school. Pug formed his first band on a dare from his sixth-grade science teacher, who didn't believe Pug and his friends would be able to pull something together in time to appear at a school dance. After graduating from high school, he traveled south to North Carolina to attend college. Pug was studying writing plays, but in time his growing passion for songwriting overwhelmed his interest in drama. Pug dropped out of school and relocated to Chicago, where he wrote songs and began working his way into the city's club circuit. He released his debut EP on his own label in 2008. "I had been in a bit of a songwriting rut, just sitting in my house with the guitar in my hands playing the same chords over and over," Pug says. "To wake myself up, I went out and got one of those 'free-if-you-move-it' Craigslist pianos. When I got it back to my place, I sat down and a New song‘ just kind of flowed out. A week later, I hired a piano tuner and he just laughed when he played the first note. It was so out of tune, that it was a half-step flat. The demo I recorded was in B flat, but I thought it was in B."it showcases the singer's unique and achingly honest point of view that spins lyrics into folk poetry. Fans of Live from the divide know Bj Barham as the lead vocalist of American Aquarium, a country rock band out of Raleigh, North Carolina, where Barham went to school. He still is the vocalist, and the band is still together, but after the Paris shootings in November of 2016, Barham found himself with an eight-song solo record and a desire to tell a wholly different story: his own. Rockingham is storytelling at its finest. He writes songs about the hardships people face and the fake hope you’re served when you grow up in a small American town where people die in the same place they’re born. In those towns there’s no real sense of a future—or if there is, it rarely delivers. While the narratives on Rockingham hide behind the characters Barham created, every song comes directly from personal experience. Ward Davis is an American Singer/Songwriter from Southeast Arkansas. Ray Bonneville is a Canadian traveling blues singer, musician, and songwriter. Born in Canada, and raised in the United States, Bonneville is a blues-influenced, song and groove man who is strongly influenced by New Orleans Music and culture Every now and then, you run across someone with a library’s worth of stories to tell. But unlike the raconteurs who regale friends with well-embellished versions of their exploits, these storytellers have lived so much, they reveal chapters of their hard-won wisdom slowly, carefully, like layers peeled from an onion. Ray Bonneville didn’t even open his storybook until his early 40s, some 20 years after he started performing. But with a style that sometimes draws comparisons to JJ Cale and Daniel Lanois, this blues-influenced, New Orleans-inspired “song and groove man,” as he’s been so aptly described, luckily found his rightful calling.

Robbie Fulks was born in York, Pennsylvania, and grew up in a half-dozen small towns in southeast Pennsylvania, the North Carolina Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge area of Virginia. He learned guitar from his dad, banjo from Earl Scruggs and John Hartford records, and fiddle (long since laid down in disgrace) on his own. He attended Columbia College in New York City in 1980 and dropped out in 1982 to focus on the Greenwich Village songwriter scene and other ill-advised pursuits. In the mid-1980s he moved to Chicago and joined Greg Cahill’s Special Consensus Bluegrass Band, with whom he made one record (Hole in My Heart, Turquoise, 1989) and toured constantly. Since then he has gone on to create a multifarious career in music.. He tours yearlong with various configurations and plays a weekly residency at the Hideout in Chicago. His 11th record, Gone Away Backward, returned him to his bluegrass days and extends the boundaries of that tradition with old-time rambles and sparely orchestrated, acoustic reflections on love, the country life, the slings of time, and the struggles of common people..
