A series of police-related deaths of unarmed black men in the US has sparked protests against police brutality and racial discrimination. The latest marches in Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray were complicated, emotional and sometimes violent. So how does it feel to watch these events unfold as a young person of color? 16-year-old Mikyhial Clarke talked to his peers in Baltimore and his family in Delaware to find out.

A voyage across the Atlantic meant new friends, and new ways of relating to people. He discovered the true meaning of the phrase, “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."
