Swingin' Down the Lane
Series produced by David Miller
Music and commentary relating to the Big Band Era.
This program debuted in 1983. Host David Miller draws upon an extensive library of recordings to produce weekly one-hour programs spotlighting the bandleaders, sidemen, vocalists, composers and arrangers who collaborated to make the Big Band Era a most notable phase of American popular music history. Dr. Miller adds biographical profiles and human interest stories to enhance the musical renditions. Regular themes include Desert Island choices, all-request sessions, memorials to deceased musicians, centennial celebrations, and top songs of 100 years ago. Interview programs in recent years have included chats with Frankie Laine, Margaret Whiting, Bob Wilber and Myron Floren.
